Damage after Odile

****UPDATE - Telephones and internet now seem to be working in Cabo - please try to call your loved ones on their cell or try the Hotel number directly...it may be faster than coming through us! ****

We have been receiving a number of requests from people looking for friends, family and loved ones over the last two days and we have been trying to answer them individually by email. Those we haven't yet been able to answer we are publishing here to try to get more information out.

People are naturally very worried as, particularly yesterday, communication with Los Cabos was very difficult (we are hearing that the fibre optic cable has been damaged which - if true - will severely hamper communications) . We also think folks were running out of battery power on their cell phones with no ability to recharge them. It was also Mexican Independence Day - ironic we know but may have contributed!

The main thing to remember is that we have received no reports of fatalities or of serious injury to anyone in the area. In fact, we understand that only 135 or so minor injuries caused by breaking glass etc. have been recorded.

That said, we understand and sympathize with folks who are waiting anxiously for information.

What we will try to do therefore is try to pull together as much information as we can and post it here on this page.

If you have a specific question you can contact us here or post a comment below and we will try to feed it out and get answers from folks on the ground and post it back here for everyone to see. If you have information on any of the hotels or people listed below please post a comment to this article or contact us hereand we will post it below for you.

This is NOT a disaster type missing persons page so please don't think that there is a panic in Cabo.

We are not an official agency - we are just us trying to help share information with concerned individuals.

If it's not working or causing more confusion then we will take it down immediately.

"Want to hear from someone that my sister Cleo Felix who lives in San Jose and her husband Fino Green and daughters a safe and have help."

Missing Person:

Name: Rachel Faye Rogers-Andrade (Formerly "Wilma Faye Andrade", nee "Wilma Faye Rogers")

DOB: July 26, 1950

Place of Birth: San Angelo, Texas

Last Known Location: Ameri-med Hospital, Cabo San Lucas, Room 3, Hospital Phone: +52 624 10 58500

Status: Severely Injured: Arterial laceration to left foot, massive loss of blood, multiple lacerations to body including face, severe laceration to left hand which severed four tendons. The hospital refused to perform surgery on her hand without payment, which we were arranging when we lost touch with the hospital. We have her insurance information and money to wire for her medical care, but we cannot reach the hospital to arrange payment.

Her contact info:

Email addresses: wilmafaye@comcast.netrachelfayeandrade@gmail.com,rachelfayerogers@gmail.com

Cell: 505-328-3068. This cell number is registered with "Viber," a cheap internet-based phone service. Viber is how we contact her, and it's how I last spoke with her. She needs to be connected to the Internet for this to work.

Yahoo chat ID: "Lunisequa," but she doesn't really use this anymore. I was able to contact her using the hospital phone number above yesterday as well.

Her physical address in Cabo: Marina Cabo Plaza Blvd. Marina 39, Col. El Medano, 23410 Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. At this location, she is friends with her apartment manager, a woman named "Lulu."

Missing Person:

Name: John David Whitfield-Andrade

Relationship: Son

Contact Info: Email, johndwandrade@gmail.com, Phone: 503-290-9576971-701-8415. Wife (Laurelin Andrade): 503-334-7325laurelin79@gmail.com

Additional Info:

·  She was injured when the door to her apartment flew off the hinges and broke her glass windows. The glass whipped around the room, cutting her.

·  The doctor said yesterday that if she didn't get the surgery, she could lose use of her hand.

·  She is non-ambulatory secondary to the severe lacerations on her foot.

·  Chronic Medical Conditions: She has only hypothyroidism for which she takes Levothyroxine daily, we think 75mgs/day. She does not have her medication with her in the hospital. This is non-life threatening. Other than hypothyroidism, she is generally fit and in good shape.

·  We are operating under the assumption that the hospital generators went out. They were operating on generator power yesterday when we suddenly lost contact with them and my mother, with whom we were talking over Viber (Internet phone service).

·  She arrived at the hospital only with her ID. Her belongings are at her apartment.

Please offer whatever assistance and information you can provide. We are obviously extremely distraught.

Statement from management:

"The Westin Los Cabos and Sheraton Hacienda del Mar continue recovering and assessing damage sustained from Hurricane Odile. All of our guests and associates remain safe and provided for with the hotels’ emergency protocols in place, including back-up power and food and water supplies. As of today, communications have been affected; there is no Internet access and phone lines are down, although those conditions could change. Starwood management is in regular contact with the hotels’ management teams who are providing real-time updates regarding the situation at the hotels. We will continue to ensure all guests are safe, comfortable and are being provided for, and help them make arrangements to return home, when airport operations resume. We will provide information on this matter as more becomes available."

RIU Hotels

RIU hotels have been issuing statements about their properties which we have been posting here however we received an aggrieved message from a user who stated that her sister was left without any help or information in the RUI Palace. If anyone can give us an update of the reality on the ground we'd be grateful.

Pueblo Bonito Resorts Official Statement

"We want to let you know that we are working very hard to determine a time frame as to when our Cabo San Lucas hotels will be fully operational again. At this point, however, it is too soon to officially establish this time frame. For those of you who have reservations for this week, we recommend you that reschedule your stay for later dates or that you move to one of our Mazatlan properties. Please make changes to your reservation by contacting the channel through which the reservation was booked (Pueblo Bonito Reservations, Travel-Agent, RCI, etc).

If you have reservations for September 22nd or after, please stay tuned and we will continue to update you through posts on this page.

Many of you have noticed that you have not able to reach anyone in the destination today. Unfortunately, the telephone and WIFI services have been down throughout Cabo today, but we would like to assure you that all of our guests are safe and sound, and all are being provided with food.

Regarding the airports, a definite date has not been announced for the Cabo International airport (SJD) to reopen, but current advice from airlines indicate that it may reopen around September 22nd for arrivals. Local news is reporting that, according to the Secretary of Tourism, the airport's two terminals were damaged but the airport is operable. The smaller Cabo San Lucas airport (CSL or MMSL) is not operable and is reported to be closed until October 10th.

In the meantime, the Federal Government of Mexico has announced that there will be an air bridge to evacuate tourists and residents from Los Cabos. The Tourism Ministry has announced that the National Defense ministry, the Mexican Navy, and the Communication & Transport ministry will all be involved in the evacuation process. We will keep you informed as more information becomes available.

Lastly, for those of you who have shown concern about the locals, we have reports from emergency officials in Baja California that 135 people have been treated for minor injuries from flying glass or falling objects, but fortunately, there were no serious injuries or deaths. We sincerely appreciate your warm words of concern for all of our coworkers and guests, and we thank you for your understanding and your patience as we work to restore our services and operations. "

If you have an update or have had a different experience please let us know and we will publish it here.

Secrets Marquis Los Cabos

"Everything is a mess here at marquis. We are still in shelter, no running water or ac. Resort is in shambles best we can see (they arent letting us see much). They have told us that we are "refugees" and not guests, so we get three meals a day and bottled water. No alcohol allowed. Toilets dont flush, people cant shower..... The staff is doing the best they can, but this is hell. Just heard we will not be out of the shelter until tomorrow at the earliest. Our luggage is all still in our boarded up and probably destroyed rooms, so even if we had someplace else to go, we are stuck here."

" All guests staying at Secrets Marquis were told they could carry out 1 bag ex. pillowcase, laundry bag filled with belongings no suitcases. When guests inquired about getting their luggage they were told after all guests had left hotel, staff members were going to be let go as well to make way for police/Mexican government workers to come into hotel to access situation. "
