Cruising up the coastline to Todos Santos, there are some stunning, wild beaches, including the one and only Cerritos.

The sand here is extra fine, and not as white as you’ll see on the Sea of Cortez side. The wild Pacific Ocean whips up great beach break waves, perfect for surfing, body boarding or body surfing. There is a well established beach club where you can get lunch and drinks, plus you will find surf boards and boogie boards for rent at the surf club. Surfing lessons are also available.

For swimmers, Cerritos beach is the safest on the Pacific side without a doubt. Be careful of strong currents though: if in doubt, ask a local about currents, pay attention to the beach warning flags or simply enjoy the ambiance close to shore.

There are not so many pedlars on this beach as there are at Medano and you can even enjoy a relaxing massage listening to the waves break.

There is a lot of development underway in this area and it is possible to rent a small apartment or to stay in the very impressive Hacienda Cerritos (pictured). There’s a whale-watching bar open to the public at Hacienda Cerritos, so you can grab a beer, sit at the edge of the balcony, and watch the whales as the sun descends into the ocean. Sometimes there’s nothing in life more important than the moment.

Getting there is easy: there is a good highway running all the way from Cabo San Lucas to Todos Santos and Cerritos is around 40 minutes along that road. It is now well signposted so just watch for the left turn off at around  the 40 mile mark (Km66). There is plenty of parking right by the beach and its free.

For our money, Cerritos is the best beach in the area.
