It was a windy, rainy night in Cabo. And nothing is changing.
Wind is still howling and the rain is still lashing down. Rainfall first thing today was 46mm in Cabo San Lucas. And 125mm in San Jose del Cabo. Winds were between 60-80km/hr.
Storm Lidia was a little closer than expected this morning– only 145 km south/south east of Cabo. And it may well strengthen before it hits land tomorrow.
Cabo is now on arrange alert.
Some neighbourhoods are without electricity. Shelters have opened. And already over 1700 people have been evacuated. Around 14 people have a been successfully rescued, plus another 7 who were stuck in cars.
Official advice is to stay indoors unless absolutely necessary. Power may be lost in more neighbourhoods so charge up your cell phones and tablets. And be ready with torches and candles. Best keep window shutters closed. Or reinforce with tape, just in case.
We will be posting regular updates throughout the day.
