There are dozens of wave runners for rent on Medano Beach and if you walk along there you will be pestered regularly (constantly!) by the numerous operators.
The machines are all lined up on the beach for you to see and, in general, they are well maintained and in good condition.
Prices always start high so haggle and there is always a deposit to pay, either with a credit card voucher (signed and open-ended) or a cash amount.
The paperwork appears formidable and is very thorough – identifying all of the current marks on the runner of your choice and with warnings of the costs and consequences of any damage.
However accidents are very rare (although the local authorities often prohibit them in busy times such as Spring Break to prevent any mishaps) and there is a lot of water to have fun in.
The operators will be very clear about where you can and cannot go, and then you’re off and running!
All of the wave runners will take a passenger so it is easy to have smaller children on with adults and flotation vests are provided by the operators also.
It is useful to wear well fitting, wrap-around sunglasses mainly to keep the spray out of your eyes.
You can rent them for about $40-$50 per half hour normally and there is no shortage of operators
