Cabo kids release turtles

Date Published:

We all know it‘s turtle time in Cabo, and all over Baja California Sur. Where from August to December sea turtles crawl ashore in the dead of night, lay their eggs and scuttle off back to sea.

And we try our best to keep you up to date with all the turtle news…

So this weekend saw the release of 400 Olive Ridley Turtles on Santa Maria Beach in Cabo. The release was part of a “Turtle for all week”. Where a group of 75 people - mainly children and youths with disabilities gathered on the beach to release the tiny creature safely into the sea.

The idea behind the event - a joint effort between several agencies - was to make the kids feel involved, give them the chance to do something new, have some fun, and learn something in the process.

But of course it is not just kids who get to have all the fun. Daily “turtle releases” are happening in different beaches all across the municipality at the moment.

So if you are in town, give it a go  – it is definitely something you wont regret, or ever forget.
