Abandoned sea lion heads to Los Cabos Dolphin Discovery

Baby sea lion abandoned on street, 450 km from the sea, coming  to Cabo's Dolphin Discovery to recuperate...

Sea lions are a regular sight around Cabo. Especially the famous Pancho who regularly makes guest appearances around the Marina. Usually at lunch time.

And although these highly intelligent creatures all look well fed, and seem plentiful they are actually subject to Special Protection in Mexico. 

Imagine then, the horror then, when authorities in Michoacán were informed that a baby sea lion had been found in a cardboard box in the middle of the street. In a city 450 km from the sea. And only two streets away from Mexico’s third largest zoo.

But the pup was not an escapee. Authorities firmly believe that the intention was to traffic the baby seal.

The pup is only 3 moths old and currently needs help feeding. Hopefully, within a few days it will be able to feed on its own. It will then be transferred to Dolphin Discovery in Cabo for some TLC before it is released back into the wild.
