Cabo airport opens after Odile

Terminal 2 Los Cabos Airport is Open! 

The Airport in San José del Cabo (SJD) OPENS TODAY Friday October 3rd for National and International Flights.

The opening of the airport is a full five days before the promised date of October 8th and comes as welcome news to the vital tourist industry of the town.

The early opening is a huge endorsement of the efforts of Sr. Martin Zazueta and the team at  AEROPUERTOS GAP Los Cabos.

The first flight will be an Aeromexico flight from Mexico City.

The various international airlines operating out of Los Cabos have each issued recent official statements (shown below) however this very welcome news may well push these target dates forward.

There are a lot of folks out there waiting desperately to get back home or to come down here and have the vacation of their life.

CABO IS NOW OFFICIALLY OPEN FOR BUSINESS

Alaska Airlines

Alaska Airlines will resume flying one daily roundtrip flight from Los Angeles to Los Cabos beginning October 8, 2014, following the recent announcement that Los Cabos International Airport will reopen. Tickets are now available for purchase online. If you had refunded your cancelled ticket, you can buy a new ticket to and from Los Cabos via Los Angeles at the same price as your original, refunded ticket. We are committed to assisting all customers impacted by Hurricane Odile, and are offering additional time to rebook travel to another Mexico destination at another time, waiving change fees and differences in fare. Customers may also book a new trip to Los Cabos for a later date, or request a full refund.

Additional Information

Passengers with tickets scheduled for travel on the affected dates may request a full refund with no fee. Unaccompanied Minors will not be accepted on flights to Los Cabos. Pets shipped via Alaska Air Cargo will not be accepted on flights to Los Cabos. Pets traveling with their passenger will be accepted. Hotel/Food/Ground Transportation amenities will not be provided by Alaska Airlines.

What to Do

As always, we advise you to check your flight status before departure. If your flight has been affected, you may rebook your flight, apply for a refund or call Alaska Airlines Reservations at 1-800-252-7522 (if calling from within Mexico, call 001-800-252-7522).

Sign up for Trip Alerts or Flight Status Alerts and we'll notify you of any last minute delays, cancellations, or gate changes on your flights by email or text message.

Delta

If your flight is canceled or significantly delayed, you are entitled to a refund. Even if your flight is not canceled, you may make a one-time change to your ticket without fee if you are scheduled to travel to, from, or through the following destination(s) on Delta, Delta Connection®, or Delta-coded flights during the specified time periods listed below.

You can now edit your itinerary here at delta.com, or you may contact Reservation Sales to make changes to your itinerary. Additional collection in fares may apply. When rescheduled travel occurs beyond December 15, 2014, the change fee will be waived. However, a difference in fare may apply. Final travel must be completed by end of ticket validity, one year from date of original issue. If travel is not able to be rescheduled within these guidelines, customers may cancel their reservation and apply any unused value of the ticket toward the purchase of a new ticket for a period of one year from the original ticket issuance. Applicable change fee and fare difference will apply for new travel dates. Final travel must be completed by end of ticket validity.

United

Affected Travel Dates

9/14/2014 12:00:00 AM - 10/10/2014 11:55:00 PM

Policy

Customers holding reservations to, through, or from Los Cabos with original travel dates, September 14, 2014 through October 10, 2014 wanting to alter their travel plans may rebook without change fees or difference in fare when rescheduled travel begins by October 31, 2014.

Your new travel must be to the same cities previously ticketed.

You may book in any fare class in the same cabin.

If your new travel begins after October 31, 2014 change fees will be waived but fare differences apply.

If your origin or destination changes change fees are waived but fare differences apply.

You may also cancel for a refund without penalty.

US Airways/American Airways

SJD services operated by both US Airways and American Airlines are now cancelled through October 17.

At this point, no decision has been made on operations to/from SJD for October 18 and beyond and all services still show operating. We are waiting for further updates from the hotels on their expected re-opening dates in the coming weeks.

Southwest Airlines

October 14. Customers holding a reservation for a canceled Southwest Airlines/AirTran Airways flight may request a refund of unused air fare or reschedule their flights in accordance with our accommodation procedures.

Customers holding a reservation for travel to/from SJD between the dates of September 14 and November 1 may request a refund of unused air fare or reschedule their flights in accordance with our accommodation procedures.

Customers may call 1-800-435-9792 to speak with a Customer Service Representative or make changes to an itinerary.

Westjet

All regular scheduled flights travelling to and from Los Cabos between September 17 and October 25 have been cancelled. Alternate flight and travel arrangements can be made without penalty. After October 26 WestJet will resume limited service based on airport repairs and hurricane recovery efforts in Los Cabos.

For any guests who have been evacuated by the Mexican Authorities and are in other areas of Mexico, please contact WestJet (001-800-514-7228) so we are able to assist you in getting back to Canada.

WestJet.com (air only) guests who wish to make alternate flight arrangements up to and including October 31, may do so without penalty, based on availability, by calling 1-800-538-5696.

WestJet Vacations guests who wish to make alternate travel arrangements up to and including October 31, should be directed to contact WestJet Vacations by calling 1-877-737-7001.
