Local search and rescue teams have been busy. Only days
after a young American tourist was pulled from the sea off Cabo, a couple were
rescued last night as their catamaran sank about 10 miles from La Paz.
The couple had sailed from La Paz to Espiritu Santo island
when they realized they were in trouble. They immediately sent out a radio call for help and were met
with a swift response from the Naval Detachment in La Paz.
By the time the search and rescue team reached them the catamaran
was submerged and they were floating in life jackets.
David Mora, from Spain, could not praise the Navy highly
enough -"The feeling of relief was overwhelming, like being born again - because we were getting really nervous as
night was falling. They were very professional in every way”.
Not only were the couple successfully saved, but so was their
pet. And their catamaran - which the Navy managed to refloat and towed back to shore
for free.
Well done to all involved in the rescue operation.
