More Feds for Cabo

A security pilot program for Cabo, plus a 20% in the deployment of Feds and Gendarmerie...

Today Mexico’s Ministry of the Interior announced that more Federal Police and Gendarmerie agents will be deployed to Los Cabos and La Paz.

Exact numbers have not been disclosed – but it has been confirmed that it is a 20% increase. A significant amount.

The move is widely seen as a continuation of the commitment to improving security in Los Cabos.. Especially after the recent spate of violence and shootings that have occurred in the last 10 days.

The announcement comes just days after SECTUR (the Tourism Ministry) made clear their intention to implement a “safety pilot programme” in Los Cabos and Cancun.Details are not yet available but it is expected that the program will be in action no later than August.

So , for anyone heading this way on vacation you should now feel extra secure. Yes, there have been recent shootings. But none in the tourist areas. It is suspected that the incidents occurred between warring drug gangs. However, this has not yet been confirmed.
