Tropical storm Hernan, the eighth tropical storm of the Pacific hurricane season, became offical at 3:00 PM Cabo time. The storm is currently 850 kilometers/530 miles south-southeast of Cabo San Lucas.
The National Hurrican Center advises that the storm will likely strengthen over the next day or so but will then encounter cold water, dry air and wind shear, causing the storm to weaken.
At this time Tropical Storm Hernan is not projected to reach hurricane status. The predicted storm track does not have tropical storm Hernan approaching Los Cabos.
