US State Department Updates Mexico Travel Advisory
On Friday August 15, 2014 the US State Department updated its Mexico Travel Warnings replacing the prior advisory from January 9, 2014.
There were no changes to the advisory as it relates to Baja California Sur, the southernmost state of the Baja Peninsula, including the popular tourist destinations of Cabo San Lucas, Todos Santos and La Paz. The entry reads as follows:
Baja California (Sur): Cabo San Lucas and La Paz are major cities/travel destinations in the state of Southern Baja California - No advisory is in effect.
The State Department began to issue warnings for travelers planning to visit Mexico in 2010 following the escalating violence of the drug war. Los Cabos and Baja California Sur have never appeared on the warning list.
