Everyone knows there has been a
lot of drug related shootings in Los Cabos over the last few months.
The most recent wave of violence
that swept through Los Cabos was just two weeks ago, when 9 people were killed.
Most shockingly, 3 were shot on Palmilla beach, in broad daylight, on a Sunday
afternoon.
BCS Governor Carlos Mendoza, yesterday
made a statement on Cabo Vision TV, acknowledging that all these deaths have
occurred due to warring factions of the drug cartels.
The Governor also insisted that
the authorities alone cannot solve the problem of drugs. He urged everyone to
take responsibility. And he encouraged the citizens of Los Cabos to participate
and play their part.
The problem is not going away
anytime soon. And it could risk the reputation of Los Cabos as a safe
destination for tourists.
Fortunately for now, occupancy remains
high, and visitors keep coming. And the official line from Los Cabos Tourist
Board remains that Los Cabos is safe for tourists.
We will continue to post regular
updates on security in Cabo.
