Hurricane Odile Potentially Dangerous

Date Published:
Hurricane Odile approaches Cabo San Lucas

Hurricane Odile Will Pass Close to or Directly Over Cabo as Major Hurricane

9:00 PM MDT/Cabo Local Time

Hurricane Odile has shifted to the north and the current projected storm track brings it extremely close to, if not directly over, Cabo San Lucas. Current maximum sustained winds are estimated to be 110 mph. At 111 mph Odile will become a Category 3 Major Hurricane and the National Hurricane Center is advising that further strengthening is likely. In approximately 18 hours Odile should enter the cold water wake of Hurricane Norbert and this should cause Odile to weaken somewhat. However, Odile is still likely to be a Major Hurricane as it passes Los Cabos with the potential for dangerous surf, heavy rains and life-threatening flash flooding, and strong winds.

A Hurricane Warning has been issued for much of the souther Baja including Los Cabos.

Updates will be posted to iTravel Cabo as they become available.
