Pacific Airport Group reported today that Los Cabos airport has
recorded a drop of 4.6% in passenger numbers during June 2015 compared to the
same period last year. In actual numbers that translates a total of 323,000
passengers for 2014, against 308,000 for 2015.
This follows on the heels of previous reports showing a
reduced number of visitors arriving by air.
The split for international visitors is even more pronounced
with 6.7 percent less in 2015 (Los Cabos received 245,500 passengers in 2014, and
in June 2015 it was 228,900)
In terms of total passengers, Los Cabos had a decrease of
5.3 percent in the period from January to June 2015 compared to the same period
last year which many still attribute to the after effects of Hurricane Odile
and the late opening of some of the hotels and major resorts. At this time,
almost 90% of the potential rooms in Los Cabos are now open for business so a
steady improvement is hoped for as the new season approaches.
