Over the last couple of weeks the Sea of Cortez has been
very moody.
We have had several calm
days and gamefish cooperated.
There have been a few windy days and fish still
bit, an upwelling of cold green ugly water and the fish still bit. Water surface temperatures have been up to 85
degrees, down to 70 degrees and back up to 80 degrees in the last ten
days. Through it all the gamefish
continued to bite. Some days the
yellowfin were five miles offshore, other days we had to run forty miles. On every occasion when we found 'em they bit.
Yesterday every angler on all three of our boats came back
with a limit of yellowfin tuna. It is
not very often I can say that. I'm on
the beach today but could hear skippers chattering on the VHF, many had limits
at 9:30 this morning. Not very often
anybody can say that.
