When it comes to romance, Los Cabos has always been a
favorite place with many couples traveling to Cabo just for that reason: to
celebrate their love for each other. For romantic, intoxicating views and
alluring appeal, the scenery in and around Cabo San Lucas is to die for.
February and Valentine's Day in Los Cabos though, can be
more than just a lobster dinners at sunset.
There is just so much to do on a couples’ vacation: fun on a romantic cruise aboard a beautiful
and comfortable yacht, sipping wine as you go and watching whales and dolphins,
hopefully returning with your catch of the day to have it cooked fresh at a
local restaurant.
For the party animals there are the sunset dinner cruises and
for the more adventurous there are ATV tours, horse-riding…or just chilling on
one of our golden beaches; it all adds up to the romantic trip of a lifetime.
Hotels and resorts in both San Jose del Cabo and Cabo San
Lucas offer tremendous deals on Valentine’s Day packages that generally include
a romantic dinner at one of their restaurants.
For real traditional Mexican romance, visit downtown San Jose del Cabo and discover
the beautiful colonial, old Mexican feel
of the Centro area.
Young, or just younger feeling, duets can obviously also get
''jiggy with it'' and party like crazy at dance clubs such as El Squid Roe,
Pink Kitty, Mandala and the more swank Passion Club; located inside the ME by
Melia resort at Medano Beach, and with Valentine’s falling on a Saturday this
year there will be ample opportunity to party the night away!
For a different experience, drive along the spectacular Pacific Highway
ocean and desert views to the lovely, small town of Todos Santos.
Now home to a variety of diverse art galleries and a growing
community of retired Americans and Canadians, Todos Santos allows couples the
memorable ''we're in love'', hand in hand, walks along the city's quiet
streets, exploring the quaint boutiques and old Mexico gift shops. The Hotel
California continues to serve as the town's most famous landmark and
restaurant, although the town's green oasis is a visually stimulating reminder
of the city's sugar cane plantation past.
The Valentines name dates back to the Christian priest who
defied Roman Emperor Claudius II (AD 268-270) decree that no young man of
fighting age could be married so they could focus on the task of being
soldiers. St. Valentine broke that edict by marrying them in secret. When this
clandestine activity was discovered by Claudius, St. Valentine was jailed and
ultimately killed on February 14 for the treasonous actions of converting men
to Christianity.
While imprisoned, St. Valentine continued his ministry of
the Gospel of Christ to everyone he could, including his jailers. One of the
Roman guards watching over the bold priest is said to have asked St. Valentine
to pray for his blind, adopted daughter. After the girl had been healed, she
received a signed, hand delivered note from her jailer father ''on the down
low'' which read, ''From your Valentine.''
It’s moved on a little since then, granted, but it is still
one of the most special days on the calendar for lovers.
