United Airlines confirmed that from March 7 they will be
flying direct to Los Cabos (SJD) from Washington.
United Airlines’ Darren Scott , Director for Latin America,
and Megan Cantwell, Director of International Marketing, confirmed yesterday that
United Airlines plans for expanding flights in 2015 to Los Cabos remain firmly in
place; highlighting the new flight from the US capital.
The flight will run until early May and will resume in the
winter where it will be promoted heavily for the holiday season through
campaigns and events to promote Los Cabos and Baja California Sur attractions.
United were the first commercial airline to fly into Los
Cabos after last September’s hurricane and are projecting a strong year ahead
for their overall operations in part because of lower fuel costs, sending
shares in the airline up even though its fourth-quarter profit fell short of
expectations.
The Chicago-based carrier forecast a pre-tax margin between
5.0 and 7.0 percent for the first quarter, a departure from previous years when
winter storms and flight cancellations have eaten into their income.
"That would be starting off the year on a very, very
strong note," said CRT Capital Group analyst Michael Derchin, adding that
he could not recall when United made as much pre-tax profit in the first
quarter.
