The sea turtle nesting season has begun with females
arriving on the beach to lay their eggs during the night.
The Los Cabos municipal government in conjunction with local
environmental groups are once again mobilizing protection schemes for both
nests and nesting females. This is the fourth season where efforts have been
made to protect 13,126 nests , releasing a total of 843,775 offspring into the
wild .
In 2014, because several natural disasters, including
Hurricane Odile is, there were major changes in the beach area and the loss of
a lot of clutches .
It is hoped that this year the protection efforts will help
to redress those losses.
