Today sees the opening of the Todos
Santos-La Paz Film Festival. Now in its 13th year, the film
festival was founded in 2004 by the Sylvia Perel.
Originally from Argentina, Sylvia
Perel has been dedicated to promoting Latino cinema throughout the Americas and
Europe. Her work in founding and judging numerous film festivals has earned her
many awards. Along with her late husband she founded the program Youth in Video,
which has produced more than 30 films, directed by children and adolescents.
The Todos Santos-La Paz Film Festival is based on strong community and educational objectives with a big
commitment to the social documentary genre. It aims to bring people from
different worlds together, to let them see the world through each other’s eyes.
The festival kicks off tonight with
two Cuban documentaries, plus a screening of the world famous Mexican 1919 silent
movie “El Automovil Gris” – a true story based on a series of robberies that swept across Mexico
city.
Both Mexican movies are being
screened in Casa Tota in Todo Santos. And you can find “El Automovil Gris” at
Teatro de la Ciudad in La Paz.

educational mission. Putting it firmly on the map of the most important Mexican
Festivals.
