Repeated warnings by the authorities, hoteliers and lifeguards
seem to be falling on deaf ears.
Neither
tourists nor locals seem to be paying much attention to the dangers of high waves
and strong currents that threaten Cabo beaches in hurricane season.
ENSAR, Cabo’s local Navy Search and Rescue teams have completed
a number of rescues over the last few weeks. The most recent was yesterday when
a teenage boy was successfully rescued after being adrift at sea for over 4
hours.
The alarm call was raised by a relative after the teenager,
washed out to sea by strong waves, was unable to fight the current and return
to the beach.
After retrieving him from the sea and performing initial
medical checks the rescue team transferred the local boy to a private hospital in
Cabo to be monitored for exhaustion.
Great work by ENSAR – again. But the public persist in dicing
with death each time they take to the sea despite official warnings.
ENSAR stuff are urging everyone - locals and visitors
alike - to please take all safety warning very seriously.
