Training Barracks for State Police to be established in Cabo San Lucas...
There is a lot of talk of security and safety in Cabo right now.
A spate of violence earlier in the year led to an increased presence of the armed forces in Cabo. Anyone who has been in Cabo recently will have noticed this.
Yesterday, a statement from Governor Carlos Mendoza, after a meeting of the Security Co-ordination Group, confirmed that the presence of the armed forces will continue for now.
The move is seen as a clear commitment by the state to improve safety and security in the vicinity of Los Cabos.
And today, it has been announced that a Training Barracks for State Police is to be established in Cabo San Lucas. It will be equipped to train up to 100 recruits.
The Business Sector of Los Cabos has donated a building which will be converted into a barracks. The site is located next to the well-known Wall Mart store. And the project is in development stage.
Right now, the push is to recruit young, local people interested in a career in State Public Security. Once the barracks is completed the recruitment drive will widen.
Looks like security is firmly on the agenda for Cabo.
