Interest in Los Cabos as a luxury destination looks set to
continue. Genaro Hernandez Ruiz, the State
Secretary for Tourism, attended the International Tourism Fair for Madrid
together with partners from West Jet, Aero Mexico, and Sun Wing. He was pleased
to report that several major hotel chains have expressed an interest in
investing in Los Cabos.
"We were talking with two hotel businesses in Spain to
see how the State Government can help to facilitate this type of investment."
The first formal meetings will take place in March.
Ruiz also met with adventure/nature tour operators and is
keen to highlight all aspects of natural and wildlife tourism available - "We
know Baja California Sur is more than sun and sand, we also have this kind of
natural beauty."
And a third area of interest for European tourism centres on
the early history of the area - from the first inhabitants to the time of the
missions.
Ruiz emphasised that Baja California Sur has a lot to offer the
European market and stresses the need to promote all destinations in the area.
