Preparations are in full swing for this weekend’s Jazz
festival in San Jose. The event is in its fourth consecutive year and steadily
becoming an attraction.
Astrid Castañeda, general director of the event, explained the
event is designed to support and promote local talent as well as encouraging
new musicians. The two day event kicks off at 5pm both days. And each musician/band
is given a 45 minute slot to do their stuff.
It’s a fully packed programme put together by
musical director Tito Rodriguez and promises some great talent. New surprises
plus established musicians: flamenco jazz from Jonathan Ruvalcaba; local traditional
jazz from The Twins; Tito with jazz and funk plus Cuban guest; New York jazz
guitarist Leo Francisco of Rea; and many more. Check out the full programme at http://www.sanjosejazzweekend.com/
The event will take place in Plaza del Pescador– http://www.plazadelpescador.com/ - well served with loads of bars and great fish restaurants. Performances will go
on until 11pm. And all the artists will play
together for the closing ceremony at 10pm on Saturday night.
The event has grown very year and looks set to establish
itself firmly on the main calendar of tourist events in Cabo. Plenty of
American visitors have already attended. And organisers for the event are confident
its appeal will widen.
