Sadly, the defending champion of
Los Cabos ATP - Croatian, Ivo
Karlovic has been forced out the tournament
in the second round by Frenchman, Quentin Halys.
Although Karlovic had some great
serves - winning 12 aces, and 43 out of 50 serve points. It wasn’t enough to
win. The audience gave him great support throughout, and both sets went to tie
breaks, but it was all over in 1 hr 40mins. The final score was 7- 6 (5), 7- 6
(8)
“I don’t know what to say I had
I had lot of opportunities but I’m sad I just couldn’t make it. I don’t know it
was one of those days where nothing worked my way. I have been struggling the
last couple of months but I was motivated for this tournament and it just
didn’t work for me tonight” said a deeply disappointed Karlovic.
Halys, currently 126 in world
rankings, will now face Bosnian Damir Dzumhur in round two.
The top favorites to reach the
final this year are Czech Tomas Berdych, and the American Sam Querrey. But there is a long way to go before the final.
Both play their first matches today. Sam Querrey will play fellow American Evan
King. And Japanese Akira Santillan, will face Tomas Berdych.
