Big excitement all round as
Southwest Airlines made their inaugural flight from San Diego to Cabo this yesterday.
Passengers cheered as the flight
landed In Cabo. And was greeted by jets of water as they touched down.
Prior to take off they had been
treated to a buffer of Mexican food, and accompanied on board by a mariachi band.
The 143 seat flights will depart
daily from San Diego. Leaving at 09.55, and taking only 2 hrs 15 mins. Return
flights to San Diego leave a 2pm. All hugely convenient for travellers.
The flight was met in Cabo
with all state and municipal tourist officials. The direct route is an exciting new development for Cabo and expected
to bring in thousands more tourists.
Similarly, Southwest see it as a
great opportunity for their airline, "We are the largest American company, and the market between
California and Mexico, specifically Los Cabos is very strong for us” - said Brad Hawkins, Southwest Communications Director commented.
