Famed ocean explorer, film-maker and conservationist Jacques Cousteau called the Sea of Cortez the “World’s Aquarium.” Iconic novelist John Steinbeck described it as “ferocious with life”. The Sea of Cortez, year-round home to an incredible variety of marine life, also plays host to migratory species such as whales, sea turtles and Manta rays. Tourists flock to Cabo San Lucas in the winter months to watch our most famous marine visitors, the Humpback and Gray whales, frolic and play with their newborn calves in the vibrant waters of the Mar de Cortez. And now, possibly in as little as two years, there will be a Marine Laboratory on the East Cape in the village of El Cardonal.
