Museum of Anthropology and Regional History reopens Living Archeology Space

Date Published:
After being closed since 2009 for major renovations the director of the regional Museum, Jesus Alejandro Zuniga, announced that the new space will open in March. And hopes to attract over 25 000 visitors annually.

The new space will house 350 objects covering  significant historical and anthropological moments from cave paintings to the first contact between the mission and civilian villages, to Mexican Independence and Revolution, and to events of the twentieth century.

It is hoped the new exhibition space will provide the perfect place to showcase these important events. The director said that the new museum " is now seeking a closer relationship with the user so they may gain a different perspective of the history of Baja California Sur.

If museums are your things it is also worth visiting Museo de Cabo San Lucas. Located in downtown Cabo, it has a great exhibition on the history of Cabo which includes part of a Pericú skeleton, the ethnic group that inhabited the southern part of the peninsula. And it  has loads more on  paleo-botany and antropology, geology and skeletons of sea mammals, birds and reptiles.
