With more than 1300 athletes from
across the globe attending this Saturday’s Moonlight Triathlon, La Paz is all
set for a very busy weekend.
The event is expected to bring
over 5000 visitors and will inject as much as 9 million pesos into the local
community. Eduardo Herrera, president of the Association of Tourism and Hotel
(Emprhotur) has reported that hotels are fully booked.
This is third year the Triathlon
has been held and it is actually a selection event for the 2016 World Triathlon
Championship in Cozumel. Registration
is full and participating triathletes are coming from as far afield as Korea, Hong Kong, Japan, Chile,
Canada, Argentina, Panama , the United States and of course, Mexico.
The event will feature two
distances: the Sprint and Olympic. Everyone from beginners to experienced international
triathletes to local beginners have been encouraged to take part.
Gerano Ruiz, Secretary of
Tourism Department said- “We are honored and ready to welcome the Moonlight
Triathlon athletes to the wonderful city of La Paz. This event will showcase
the beauty and hospitality La Paz has to offer to both participants and visitors
from around the world.”
