After receiving no response from requests to the authorities,
local businesses and residents around Medano Beach in Cabo San Lucas, have
decided to install their own surveillance cameras in the area.
Ricardo Gamiño Araoz , president of the Association of
Settlers of El Medano , said the Secretariat of Public Security of the State
has not authorized the action; however, that has not stopped a group of
citizens seeking to improve security to visitors and people working on the
popular beach.
In total, 12 cameras which will be located at strategic
points and if required will be linked to the Mexican Navy or the Municipal
Police in Los Cabos.
Guillemots Gamiño emphasized that citizens should be
organized and be prepared to be more vigilant and report any strange activities
in or around the beach immediately to nip any trouble in the bud.
