Cabo’s 5th international film festival got off
to a great start yesterday.
Opening speeches were made by Alonso Aguilar, director of
the film festival and Genaro Ruiz, Secretary of State Tourism, commending all the
actor and directors and welcoming everyone to Cabo.
Both the press and public waited eagerly to see which
celebrities would grace the red carpet. And they weren’t disappointed.
The opening ceremony welcomed Mexican film stars like Juan
Manuel Bernal, Ana Serradilla, Ilse Salas, and Christopher Uckerman. Natalia Lafourcade,
one of Mexico’s most famous rock chics, was also a nice surprise for many fans,
as was the legendary Mexican performer and actress Lyn May.
Plenty of American and Canadian stars were also in
evidence – including Dennis Quid and the Canadian child actor Little Jacob
Trambley who shot to fame with The Room.
The opening gala presented a screening of “Jackie” –
featuring the life of Jackie Kennedy, played by Natalie Portman.
The film festival runs until Nov 13th –
tickets are still available.
