San Jose del Cabo's busiest non-profit organization, Liga MAC, will hold their 9th annual Jazz Festival this year on Friday, March 22. Individual tickets are now on sale at a cost of $350 and $150 U.S. Dollars. Liga (meaning league) MAC is an agency founded by a small group of Mexican, American and Canadian (MAC) women in 1997. The Jazz Festival is the groups major fundraiser, although each year, the organization creates new events and diverse methods to continue serving their community. This year's marquee entertainment will be the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, which was most recently seen performing at the 2013 Grammy Awards. The group's name originates and is derived from the Preservation Music Hall, located in the heart of the universally known French Quarter of New Orleans. Playing together since 1961, the band has traveled the world, nurturing and spreading the wonderful art form of New Orleans Jazz. Going from Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Hollywood Bowl, the Appollo, New York's Cotton Club and Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco (just to name a few); the group now takes to the Hilton Resort's center stage to perform before an expected crowd of 400 Los Cabos philanthropic jazz enthusiasts. The event is Liga MAC's treasured jewel of musical entertainment and fundraising success. The fun-filled festivities commence promptly at 5:30 p.m.with a cozy cocktail hour, accompanied by music from local entertainer, David Flores. After that, guests will choose dinner from a New Orleans style buffet. A live auction will then headline the evening with everything to bid on; from a vacation package to New Orleans, to an original Hugo Ortega painting, commemorating this year's gala event. After the auction, guests are invited to make an ''ACE pledge'' or donation. ACE, meaning “Adelante Con la Educacion” or “Foward with Education” in English. ACE is Liga MAC's scholarship program which helps keep a student in school for an entire year at a cost (or pledge) of $250 USD. Liga MAC was founded in 1997 and has been a registered Mexican non-profit charitable organization, dedicated to helping low-income families and individuals in crisis throughout the San Jose del Cabo community they serve.
