Now in its 7th year, and growing in popularity
all the time, the famous Lord of the Winds Kiteboarding Competition kicks off
in Los Barilles on Wednesday.
The beaches in Los Barilles have some of the best
conditions for kiteboarding in the world. The consistency of the Baja winds and
the wide open spaces makes it a kiteboarders dream.
With over $20 000 dollar in prize money, and the prestige
of becoming Lord or Lady of the Winds, many of the world best kiteboarders will
be heading to Los Barilles. And putting on a spectacular display every day with
Kite Foil racing, Slalom racing, Freestyle racing, and Big Air racing.
The event has attracted kiteboarders from far and wide.
With competitors and visitors expected from Canada, Australia, United States,
Mexico City, Guadalajara and Cancun.
The 5-day competition begins on Wednesday 18th
and runs until Sunday. With serious music and partying every night. And loads
of fun activities and fantastic food.
Baja Sports Mexico run the event. And the whole idea behind
it is to make Lord of The Winds a world class kiting event, plus providing
kiteboarding opportunities for local kids, and raising money for local
charities. Assistance is provided every year from the Rotary Club and loads of
local volunteers. The nominated charity this year is Los Barillas Sports Club.
