Over 1600 athletes have already registered for Los Cabo
Ironman triathlete competition on Sunday 30th October.
This is the fourth year the event has been run and it's getting more popular every time.
Participating athletes are coming from far and wide - so far 62 countries will be represented. But
there may well be more by the time of the race.
All in all around 8000 visitors are expected in Cabo for
the event. Local tourist providers are working closely with municipal and
government agencies to make sure the event runs smoothly.
$50 000 dollars of prize money – to be shared between men and women - is up for grabs in the elite category. And
trophies will be awarded to athletes in the amateur category. Last year’s
winner - Francisco Serrano – will be
back to try and defend his title.
