More Fiesta Coming Your Way With This Year's Mexican Independence Day

Mexico's war of Independence to end nearly 300 years of Spanish rule, began with a Catholic priest's ringing of the church bell in the town of Dolores, Guanajuato on September 16, 1810. A historic event, that called upon people of mixed ancestry in Mexico, to take up their arms and fight for their most basic political and civil rights; as well as a redistribution of land and a demand for racial equality. Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla's ''Grito de Dolores'' (Cry of Dolores) led to the country's life changing revolts, which were forged even after the Catholic priest was captured and executed by Spanish soldiers in 1811. Other leaders like Jose Maria Morelos y Pavon, Mariano Matamoros, and Vicente Guerrero, carried the fight against the oppression from Spain...
