From 17:00 hours on Monday the port of Cabo San Lucas was
closed to all types of navigation due to weather conditions caused by Hurricane
Linda, currently located about 300 miles southwest of the southern tip of BCS.
Yesterday gusts of between 20 and 30 miles per hour and 10ft
waves were experienced in much of the coastline of the Los Cabos area with
conditions worsening as the evening progressed.
On beaches the red flags were posted, which restrict access
to the sea for swimming and recreation all along the coast. According to
information from the Civil Protection Coordination of Cabo San Lucas , it is
expected that today the black flag will be shown throughout the coast, which
restricts people from even walking on the sand, for safety reasons.
Hurricane Linda is a
category 2 storm and continues moving northwest at 19 mph and is expected to
intensify briefly before losing power through Wednesday with heavy rains forecast for Los Cabos and much of Baja California
Sur in teh coming days.
