Hotel occupancy up 6 per cent in Cabo

Despite recent violent events in Cabo, overall visitor numbers are up by 20% this year....

Since the shootings last weekend on Palmilla beach, it has been a bit of a tense time in Cabo.

However, although it is still perhaps too early to feel the full effects of the recent violence, hotels and resorts are not reporting cancellations.

And in fact, so far this year, hotels are showing record occupancy rates - 6% up on last year.

Add to this the fact that the number of overall visitors are up by 20%, and you get a pretty positive image of Los Cabos maintaining its position as a premier vacation  destination.

Yes, there has been a worrying increase in murders.

But people seem to recognise that these murders are directly related to organised crime activities, and not aimed at tourists. Of course, this does not make these deaths any less tragic, it just gives some context.
