After 18 years of litigation, the future of the "Gray Ghost" may finally have been determined.
The unfinished construction on the Cabo San Lucas marina, originally called “The Place at Cabo” but (un)affectionately nicknamed the "Gray Ghost" by locals, has sat empty and unfinished for the past 18 years. A few years ago the outside space was taken over by vendors, but they were removed this past Saturday and the grounds were fenced in.
According to an announcement that aired on the local Cabo Mil radio station, a settlement was reached after negotiations that involved Senator Isaías González, also leader of the local workers union CROC, Eduardo Sánchez Navarro of Grupo Questro, and representatives of the Federal Government.
The agreement returned the property to the investors who will perform a structural analysis and hope to have final plans for (re)construction completed in 6 months. The plan is expected to include around 200 hotel rooms and generate employment for 40 union workers and 300 positions within the hotel.
