Anyone that knows anything at all about Mexican art will
no doubt be familiar with the work of Frida Kahlo.
Probably Mexico’s most famous female artist – Kahlo is probably
best known for her self-portraits. And her turbulent marriage to Diego Rivera, the
famous Mexican muralist.
A series of 3 lectures on Kahlo are to be given this week
by the museum curator - Alejandra Lopez Estrada – who spent the last 10 years
cataloging, curating and digitizing the “Secret Files” of Frida and Diego. The files
have been locked for more than 50 years.
The lectures will be in English today and tomorrow - Jan 16
and 17. And in Spanish on Wed, Jan 18.And the location is Gallery Ida Victoria, in the San Jose
del Cabo art district.
The event kicks off with a cocktail at 5.30, and the talks begin at 6.30. Numbers are limited so it’s best to email and make a
reservation: alegria@idavictoriaarts.com
This is a unique opportunity to hear first-hand, from an expert, previously
unknown information about the famous artist and her work. Not to be missed if you are in town.
And for all art lovers – don’t forget about San Jose’s weekly
art walks. On Thursday nights, local galleries invite visitors and locals to
meet San Jose’s finest artists, view their works, and enjoy a glass (or two) of
Baja California wine.
