Two earthquakes reported early this morning just off
Loretto in the Sea of Cortez.
According to the National Seismological Service (SSN) the
first earthquake occurred in the early hours of this morning, 01 July, around 01.27
am, about 65 km northeast of Loreto. With a magnitude of 4.1, a depth of 10km
and its epicenter at 26.25º latitude and -110.75º longitude.
The second occurred a few hours later, at 6.42, and was
70 km northeast of Santa Rosalia. With a
magnitude of 3.9, a depth of 32 km, with its epicenter at 27.52º latitude and
-111.59º longitude.
Apparently there has been no damages reported and the authorities have not issued any
special warnings.
Today’s quakes follow two recent tremors, also in the Sea
of Cortez, only two weeks ago on the 15 and 16 of June. One was 106km from La Paz
and the other 101 km southwest of Los Mochis, Sinaloa.
