Dorado in Cabo

Thousands of tons of illegally caught dorado are being exported to the USA, despite being a species reserved exclusively for sportfishing.

The fish are being caught on longlines that are killing thousands of turtles and seabirds as well as decimating the dorado (also known as mahi mahi or dolphinfish) population.

The trade is lucrative as well as illegal and there is strong evidence to suggest that the cartels are involved using the illegal sales to launder dirty money.

Everyone loves to eat dorado; being caught on a rod and reel is fair and sports can choose to release the fish if they want. Everyone is fine with that, but no-one wants to see the decimation of this important sportfish just to line the pockets a gangsters.

Please take a few seconds and ask the US government to add Mexican dorado to the "at risk list", you will be helping fellow fishermen too as there will be more fish in the sea for everyone to catch.

There is only until June 8th to do this so act now; take a few seconds, click the link and write a quick comment.
