This year’s Carnival in La Paz has got off to a great start with local activities and events drawing large crowds. Especially last night when the royal procession culminated in the crowning of the carnival Queen – Ailyn 1 - by the local Major.
This grand event was followed by the hotly anticipated performance of Mexican girl Band Ha-Ash. The streets were packed as the sisters took to the stage to perform well known favourites plus tracks from their new album.
And today, Sunday, sees the start of 3 days of Carnival Parades in which over 30 floats will take place. Each evening, after the parades terminate on the boardwalk, activity on the main stage begins. Tonight’s star performer is José María Napoleón, the famous Mexican singer and composer.
