Cabo hotels are on a high after reaching record occupancy
rates of 75% throughout the summer season. A fantastic result compared to
the national average occupancy rate which, like last year, was only 35-40%.
Summer is not traditionally a “high” season for Cabo. But this has been changing over the last
couple of years as more local and foreign tourists head to Cabo for summer
vacation.
More cruises, new flights and sporting events like the Abierto de Tenis Los Cabos have also helped.
Enrique Turcott, president of the Hotel Association of
Los Cabos, said these numbers are really encouraging for the hotel industry.
And everyone is now very confident of reaching this year‘s target of 2 million
visitors to Cabo.
Occupancy will go down to 50% in September, he said. But this
is still higher than other parts of the country. Giving all the hotels the perfect
opportunity to carry out any maintenance work ahead of the high season starting
in November.
Cabo is becoming increasing popular and more hotels are
planned to meet this demand. Over the next 5 years 5000 more hotel rooms will
become available.
And this is already happening - with 1000 more rooms to be ready by the end of 2016. And another 1000 by the end of 2017.
All sounds good for Cabo.
