John and Ryan Donovan, owners of RedRum Sportfishing. Cabo San Lucas.
"Fish a Day in My Shoes" is granting 4 US Veterans a trip
to Cabo for a few days of fun, fishing and local festivities.
Inspired by a chance meeting with a tourist (whose brother
had just committed suicide after years of struggle since serving in Iraq) RedRum
owner, John Donovan, instantly decided he wanted to get involved in veteran support.
And after a trip to Austin to attend an Outdoor Veteran
event the idea for “Fish A Day in My Shoes” was borne. It is a collaboration between RedRum Sportfishing and
Veteran Outdoors. A number of local bars and restaurants are also helping out.
The four veterans arrived in Cabo last night and have an
action packed agenda over the next three days.
“The trip is a token of our appreciation to their
dedication to our country, as well as a tool to help raise awareness of the
fact that there are people and families affected by Veteran suicides every day. It is said that 22 Veterans commit suicide a
day” says John Donovan.
