Since Friday the airports of both
Los Cabos and La Paz have been operating at virtually full capacity with all flights
at least 90% full. And many with 100% occupancy.
This is expected to continue
over the next few days when Los Cabos will average 110 flights per day, and La Paz
will average 35. And in the next three weeks both airports will continue to
have a significant influx of both national and international visitors.
The figures show a phenomenal 22%
increase at Los Cabos - with 700 0000 passengers compared to 550 000 in the same
period of 2015.
Martin Pablo Zazueta, Director
of the airport terminal, is delighted - “we
estimate that by the end March, San Jose del Cabo will achieve a historical
record with over one million passengers in the first three months of the year. Clearly
reflecting that Los Cabos is in full recovery after Hurricane Odile in 2014”.
And finally, to maximise the holiday
season for all a comprehensive security plan has been implemented at San Jose
International Airport. Aimed at reducing accidents and potential crimes the
operation began on Friday and will continue until April 03. The extra security measures
include additional random bag checks, and increased speed and drink driving
checks for all motorists.
Luis Espinoza, head of the
Airport Station of the Federal Police say - “Our biggest concern is for the safety
of all our national and international visitors, and everyone who is visiting us
during the Easter holidays.”
