New Storm Brewing: Is Hurricane Odile on Her Way?
The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reports that an area of low pressure located a few hundred miles south of Acapulco, Mexico has become better defined and is likely to become a tropical depression during the next few days while it moves slowly northwestward.
According to the NHC, there is an 80% chance of tropical cyclone formation within the next 5 days. It is too early to be sure what path the storm would take. Given that the storm has not fully formed yet, it is common for the computer models to give conflicting predictions (see below). However, it is likely to take a simliar path to the last two storms, Hurricane Marie and Hurricane Norbert, and may affect the Baja and Los Cabos next week.
Should the disturbance become a tropical storm, its name will be Odile. For what its worth, the name Odile is a German name that means "fortunate or prosperous in battle".
