RedRum First Fishing Report after Odile

Date Published:

Hey everybody!! I hope everybody has been well these past few weeks and have not suffered TOO much without my fishing reports! We just wanted to give everyone an update about RedRum in general. A couple of our boats did have some minor damage, but that is being taken care of as we speak and our condos are fine, except for a broken window, which is also being repaired, and the Villas are in good shape as well. Big Papi suffered a little more damage, but should hopefully be up and running soon as well. Three weeks ago, you would have never believed that so much could be done in so little time! I was amazed as I watched thousands of people come in from La Paz and the Mainland to help us through this disaster. Tons of volunteers worked tirelessly everyday as well. There is a real sense of community that has come from this disaster. Even Team RedRUm has gotten in on the cleaning efforts!!

People have asked, “How does it look?” “Do you think we should come down there now?” Absolutely! If your hotel/resort says they are ready, then they are ready! The airport is open already for flights from Mexico City and is opening tomorrow, October 8 for international flights. RedRum veteran angler Scott Koenig came in from Canada this week and said he was amazed as he walked down the main street that you could barely tell anything had happened here. Now, THAT is what we like to hear! Greg and Deb Kelley are in from Alaska and stated the same, but that some of the destruction off the beaten path was still bad, and yes, that is true, but we still have people here working around the clock to restore all of the broken areas. The Kelley’s will be fishing on the 15th and they can’t wait to get out there!! They also said not to worry, Cabo Wabo IS open and serving your favorite cocktail – thank you guys for that update!!

SPEAKING of the fishing….. well, we have not had a lot of boats go out, but the last few weeks our guys have been out fishing for their families and did really well catching Dorado and Yellowfin. Check out the smile on their faces :)JEff James came in here on MOnday the 22nd, to give us our first charter and our boys a nice tip, he caught 3 Dorado and 2 Yellowfin. Another Canadian gentleman, Lance was in this past Sunday and released a Striped Marlin and caught some Bonita. Our friend Scott Koenig was out yesterday and ALMOST had a nice Blue Marlin, but he lost it!!

We are ready for you guys! October/November are the best months to fish in Cabo and Cabo IS READY!!!! RedRum is ready! We look forward to seeing all of you “reel” soon!

I just want to end on a note of appreciation from all the staff and crew here in Cabo for all the support we have gotten from our wonderful clients in the States and Canada. RedRum has received many “Hurricane Odile” relief t-shirt orders and just donations in general and I personally have been overwhelmed with the generosity of all of you! THANK YOU, from the bottom of all of our hearts for helping us to feed our families get back on our feet. We will never forget it.
