Friday,
April 22nd: As our last report ended, we are still seeing a majority of our
fishing on the inshore bite. There are
still numerous Snapper, Seabass, Grouper and Trigger fish in the area and
during these “slower” times make for a great day on the water while down in
Cabo on vacation. TantRum headed out
with the Leavins and foul-hooked a Manta Ray as well as landing 8 Trigger
Fish. The Mekis group fishing on TopGun
and pulled up over 15 fish, 3 different species including Triggerfish and
Snapper.
Saturday,
April 23rd: Captain Gaba had a great time fishing with Don Harte and his
friends aboard 19’s Toy. The group had a great time catching a Dorado as well
as a Striped Marlin (Judy Chrisitensen’s first ever billfish)! The Tooker’s got
into the Billfish action as well as they caught & released a Striped Marlin
while fishing with Omar and Oscar on RedRum.
The Saul’s and the Russell’s each fished a half-day, Sniper and El
Nuevo, and picked away at Bottom Fish on the inshore.
Sunday,
April 24th: Thomas Garza and his group of longtime friends from the Rio Grande
Valley headed down for 2 days of fishing with us. In support of the CCA -RGV chapter the group
had purchased a 4 night stay that includes 2 days on the water with us! On their first day they reeled in a nice
Stripe Marlin with Captain Gaba! The
Villegas Party stayed extremely busy while fishing on TantRum with Captain
Juan. The couple spent a majority of
their time fighting inshore fish like Snapper, Grouper and Seabass.
Monday,
April 25th: The Boys from the RGV fished with Gaba on their 2nd day and had a
great time enjoying 19’s Toy, having a few laughs, drinking a few cervezas and
getting to know the waters of Baja! They
also fished a little! Ending their trip
with some Snapper and Grouper picked up along the way!
Tuesday,
April 26th: For the third straight day, 19’s Toy along with Captain Gaba and
Mate Noe headed out to look for fish. Today they headed out with the DiSmone
Brothers and caught and released a Striped Marlin on their full-day outing.
Wednesday,
April 27th: El Nuevo and Captain Alex headed out with the Billings for a
half-day charter and were able to catch & release a Striped Marlin.
Thursday,
April 28th: THE MARLIN ARE COMING BACK!!! Today was one of the better days we
have seen on the water in quite some time.
Most of the boats that headed out of the Marina (RedRum or not) reported
multiple Marlin bites, catches and releases.
We hope this is an indicator that the “tides are changing” and we get
back to our hot season! TantRum and the Hollands released 1 Striped Marlin on a
half-day while the Gonzalez Party on ReelRum released 3 Marlin on a
full-day. The Evans party fishing on El
Nuevo also had a trio of Striped Marlin reeled in for releases! Team RedRum (John, Ryan and myself) took Oh
So Rojo out for her first official charter!
Captain Ramon (aka BOBO) and Mate Marcos helped us raise 5 Stripe Marlin
while we were able to land and release 3 of them! Not a bad way to break in the new boat! She’s going to be awesome!
Friday,
April 29th: The Evans Party fished their 2nd day on El Nuevo and decided they
wanted to go for “quantity”. They headed
up the Pacific with Captain Alex and spent their day pulling on Snapper,
Grouper and Triggerfish. RedRum hosted
the Jecker/Parma Group today and the boys were able to put them on a Striped
Marlin during their full day on the water!
