Well, Happy Valentine’s Day y’all!! I wish I could say the fish were feeling as much LOVE for us as they were last week, but not so much the case this time. We did have some bad weather this week, which is a little odd for us. Windy, rainy weather is not really something we are used to in Cabo unless it is hurricane season. Friday my guys came in soaking wet from the swells and Saturday morning the port was closed until 7:30AM. We did have a few unlucky boats this week, mostly on Wednesday – not sure why the fish chose that day to shy away from the bait, but it is what it is!

Monday we did have an unlucky crew on El Nuevo as well, the Radneys and the Allens, just could not coerce any fish to take the bait! On the opposite end of the spectrum was RumRunnin who were only fishing 5 miles away, they spotted a school of Porpoise and caught 8 Yellowfin, they also boated a Dorado and released a Striped Marlin. Joe Ippolito and his friends were stoked especially seeing how a mojority of the other boats did. They did it again on Saturday and still had an excellent day catchin 3 Dorado and some Spanish Mackerel. Daniel Aust and crew fished on RedRUm and caught 4 nice Dorado. Matt Piper fished for his 2nd time this trip catching the only Roosterfish of the week, he also boated a Dorado. James clore and his crew hooked one of the few Billfish this week. They landed this nice Striped Marlin before letting her go to fight another day! Marlin Now, I almost don’t want to talk about Wednesday as 3 of 6 boats came back with zilch, BUT buddies Brian and Wayne on ReelRum did boat a Dorado as did Jeremy Johnson on Redrum, he actually caught 2 and a couple of SkipJack. Dan Dotson and his group was one of the few this week that caught a billfish, they released a nice Striped Marlin. We only had 3 boats out on Thursday, though we had one unlucky boat, the other 2 boats caught 2 dorado, RedRum with Ed Dodge and his folks and Dave Campbell got lucky releasing a Striped Marlin and boating a Dorado. Friday we were full with Henry Rodriguez and his group fishing 2 boats, RumRunnin and RedRum. They caught a ton of Spanish Mackerel and 2 Dorado. Paul Conlon and his crew fished 2 more days with us this week, catching a total of 9 Dorado and a couple of Skipjack. Steve and Marcella Ramsy went out with Cappy Ramon and mate Julian on ReelRum Friday. They caught 3 nice Dorado and some Spanish Mackerel. Matt Tekulve went out with girlfriend Cadace on Tantrum and though they were back to the dock within 2 hours due to sea sickness, Matt still released a Striped Marlin. He came back this Sunday and was more than happy to have also boated some Dorado and Spanish Mackerel. Saturday was still a little slow, but we did release 2 Striped Marlins on RedRum with the Felinski group and on Nuevo with the Bissells who fished a 1/2 day. Teri Taylor and her group said it was looking bleak out there especially with the high swells, but they finally boated a Dorado and Skipjack. Jeffrey Mann and his son were not too pleased with their catch on Saturday as they only boated 2 Spanish Mackerel, but they did it again Sunday and even e-mailed me from the boat that they had caught 12 Spanish Mackerel and a Dorado. They were pretty pleased with that!! Paul Garcia was the only unlucky boat Sundaybut the rest of the boats brough my spirits up. Gene Mickelson and fiance Juanita (CONGRATS GUYS!!) fished with their fave crew, Juan and Humberto on Tantrum and caught 4 Dorado and some Spanish Mackerel. On 19′s Toy Amy Grier and her crew caught some Spanish Mackerel. George Stone and his buddies caught 2 Dorado and a couple of Skipjack on their 1/2 day onboard Nuevo. Jonathan Pickoff and his buddy boated 2 Dorado with Mate Oscar on RedRum.

Not a bad end to the week, looks like the Dorado are hanging in there!!
