WEATHER:
Well the weather has been really good with days of sunshine and it is pretty
much normal weather for this time of year. What I have noticed is it is middle
of October and the humity continues to linger with us at night. It is cooling
some but we have had days like last week where it was really hot in the day
time and some of the most humid nights we have had all year. We are starting to
get that October breeze from the north which is cooler and you can feel the
change in the air coming, but it hasn’t quite set in yet and any old time local
can tell you October can be like September and we really don’t get cooler
temperatures till November.
WATER: There
still are bits of 82 degree water up and around Golden Gate and San Jamie Banks
I have noticed, but it seems the water, especially on the Pacific side is cool
and down around 79 to 80 degrees. On the Sea of Cortez side the water is a
steady 82 to 83 degrees, which is pretty normal this time of year. Go to this link which will show you water temperatures for the southern half of Baja.
BILLFISH:
The Marlin fishing has been red hot and I had some friends catch a 450lbs Black
Marlin. Wow, cool!!! We caught on our boats a 300lbs Blue and a 280lbs Blue
Marlin. The Striped Marlin fishing has been awesome also with lots being landed
as we speak and most being landed at the horseshoe and as far north as San
Jamie Banks. So now there is plenty of the Marlin action if that’s what you are
looking for I think over the next 2 weeks it will stay pretty good.
DORADO:
Dorado fishing is super hot and the fish are right on the beach all the from
Gray Rock to Rancho Migrino and being landed with lures, striper bait and
ballyhoo. Most are in the 15lbs to 35lbs range with some going to 40lbs but
this is a lot better than what we were catching 3 weeks ago because those were
much smaller Dorado.
TUNA: Well
the Tuna fishing is really good with lots of action being reported over the
past week. The Tuna have been in the San Jamie Bank area and lots of Tuna in
the 15 to 35lbs range have been caught about everyday. King Busters, Live Bait
and chumming with Sardines have been very effective but you must find the
schools of Porpoise, look to the skys for the birds, and you will run into
them.
INSHORE:
Lots of fish being landed close to the beach and the Pangas are really
producing with loads of Dorado and even Striped Marlin. We have also landed
lots of Rooster Fish close to shore on bait.
WAHOO:
Fishing for Wahoo has been really good as we had one boat that landed 3 and
another landed 5 so it has been good. The fish were up to 50lbs and caught on
lures and jet heads.
