Fishing
Report
March 2017
Our
magnificent Cabo fishery is going through a transition right now. With varying
weather patterns and cooler than normal temps in February, the fishing has been
less than stable. The Marlin bite has been spread out over the Pacific, but we
know that as the spring season hits, the bite gets red hot in the Sea of Cortez
off San Jose Del Cabo. Conditions are perfect for an incredible April-May
Striped Marlin Season. Be ready!
Right now
the main action is Sierra Mackerel, Yellowtail, Grouper and Snapper. We have
had incredible luck with these inshore species and many anglers have filled
coolers while fishing inshore. Lots of fun on light tackle and the finest
eating anywhere.
The
Yellowfin Tuna bite has been really hot through the winter months, and will
fire back up this spring as well. Lots of smaller fish, but massive schools
have been migrating by Land’s End, allowing multiple hookups and mayhem on
deck. We have had many days with 20+ Tuna boated.
We have also
seen the occasional Wahoo bite, with some fish over 60 lbs. The spring water
temperature changes also pushes Wahoo by us and they are targetable in April
and May quite often. Combine this with the occasional Thresher Shark and the
various Swordfish that have been spotted, and you have the chance of hooking into
anything this time of year.
Weather and
conditions are now perfect. The water temp is in the mid 70’s and beautiful
blue in color. We have also enjoyed the best Gray and Humpback Whale season
ever this year.
We are
poised for an incredible spring season. Cachet Beach Hotel and Cabo Villas
Beach Resort has hotel/fishing packages available. Check out our Cabo Yacht . Reserve your fishing adventure with our cordial
